I'm back and a LINE UP CHANTS Freebie!

Wow!  I leave for vacation and come back more followers. SOOO Exciting!!!!

I had a super time on the Texas coast with my family.  I was sad to leave, but a little excited to come back because next week begins FUN TIME!  The part I look forward to... getting back into my classroom.  I got an email from my principal saying our rooms are ready so I will be headed up there on Monday.

Let the fun begin!  I'll post picks of the progress.  I have no idea how I want things to look, so I am sure I will go through several arrangements.  I'll also be able to post more ideas and freebies since I'll have more time with baby girl in daycare.

Here's my line up chant book that I recreated.  My original post is here.  Click on the picture to get your book.  I plan on making the cover extra cute...maybe some scrapbook paper to spice it up a bit before laminating.

ENJOY your freebie...keep the followers coming...more followers=more freebies....maybe even my first giveaway!!!

A Brand New Look...AGAIN

Yep, I am that person.  I get tired of things and need a change.  I wasn't completely satisfied with my blog layout, so I kept searching and I finally found one that I really liked.  I paid for this one so I'll be using it a while.  :)

Let's read those sight words...

Or let's CHANT, SING, DRIBBLE and SHOOT, and CHEER!!!

Are you looking for something different to do with your sight words, word wall words, star words, or popcorn words?

I stumbled upon Growing Kinders post on her sight word chants idea and I just had to make one for my classroom.  She has the name of the chant and a description listed to print out.  All you need to do is glue them on a Popsicle stick.  Check her's out here or visit her site. She has tons of great ideas.

Here is what I came up with.  All I did was cut them out and glue them on and Ta Da...I have a new Sight Word Chant bucket.  I think that the kids are gonna love it!

OH - I almost forgot!!!
The green can comes from the Target Dollar Spot!
If you want my can label click on the picture below.  I made 2 different ones.
She also has a really neat password printout.  I did this last year and the kids really enjoyed it.  I put it on the outside of my door and  I had them whisper it into my ear as they walk in the door.  It is pretty quick so it doesn't take away from learning time.

A brand new look

I have been looking for a new layout for my blog for a while now and finally came across something cute.  I had even considered making one myself, how hard can it be, right?

I found mine here:

Totally cute and there are other fabulous layouts as well.  I wanted to try to be a little original, but it's hard with the free layouts- everyone wants all the cute ones.   I think I'll stick with this one for a while...until I need a change.

Oh - I haven't blogged in a while because my 9 month old is WALKING!!!  So she is keeping me pretty busy.

Please help me spread the word...

I have a project on Donors Choose that I am really excited about. It is my second project. Sadly, my first was not funded. I just got an email saying that Lakeshore would fund half of it if I can get the rest funded but I need your help!

Please help me spread the word.  The funding would buy my classroom a storage shelf for our math work stations and other math manipulatives.
If you are interested in helping just click on the link below.  I plan on keeping up this blog and posting freebies for my followers to enjoy.  So keep checking back.

THANK YOU!

Blog Mixer

So I admit...as soon as I saw this post I had to make a button so I could join.   Thank you Yearn to Learn!

First you have to complete the following:
1.  A blogger who is a "New Kid on the Blog"
(Let's say someone who has blogged 2 months or less and has less than 200 followers)
2.  Post a blogger in your same grade level
3.  Post a blogger in a different grade level
4.  It's all about the button. Find a cute blog button and post it.
Here are my thoughts...

1.  New Kid(s)...I have to include myself!! :)

Krazy in Kindergarten

Math Workstations Chapter 6

PLACE VALUE
When I started reading this chapter...I was thinking place value...hmmm.  Then I started to think hey, I do this everyday during calendar time.  I have a pocket chart where we count the days that we have been in school.  We talk about making bundles of 10's, 100's, etc.  We even talk about what number will come next.
We also count to 100.  Count by 5's, and then count by 10's.  I have a number pocket chart for this one.  We also talk about the number patterns on the chart.

Both charts are Carson Dellosa.
One thing that I also do is I take away numbers and they have to tell me which one is missing.  This could be turned into a workstation.  -Missing Numbers.  A recording sheet could be made and at the end of the week we could talk about what answers we got.
The thing that they love the most is when Zero the Hero comes to visit.  After the second visit they begin to see the pattern that he will come every tenth day of school.  I usually have some sort of treat (shaped like a zero) and we complete a math journal page with that number.  We make sets of 10, tallies, and we make the number.  Kathleen Pedersen has a great zero the hero unit on TPT.  Check it out!  I plan on using it next year.

Speaking of number patterns...

Here's an odd and even chant for you:
0, 2, 4, 6, 8 -They are even aren't they great!
1, 3, 5, 7,9 - They are odd all the time!

One area that needs A LOT of work is the TEEN numbers.  These are ones that my students struggle with each year.  I really liked the idea that Fran posted about having the students count up.  I try to get them to do that each year, but maybe I just wasn't getting it right.

Ok, so I have a lot of work to do in place value.  Tons of things need to be created.  Luckily my blog friends have made some things.   Check out their goodies here:

More coming soon!!!  I hope.
